A Cure for the Common Cold
I was talking to a friend yesterday who mentioned that he had a cold.
I tried to keep my distance as much as possible but didnt really think about it too much at the time.
Only when I got home did I stop and think, “he is ALWAYS ill!”
Why does he get so many colds?
First, lets look at what he does to ‘cure’ his cold.
He takes off the counter cold medications. He sleeps a lot. He drinks gallons of orange juice because he has heard that vitamin C is good at fighting colds. He buys throat lozenges to help his croaky voice.
By the time the cold has set in though, this is all too late. You are not trying to prevent the cold, you are trying to cure it. And as we all know, there is no cure for the common cold.
Or is there?
Has it always been there?
Are we simply too lazy to prevent it and would prefer the easy ‘fix’ rather than the longer time prevention?
You see, the cure for the common cold starts months before you get your cold.
My friend is right about the vitamin C intake but it needs to be entering your body on a regular basis for a prolonged period of time. And im not talking about supplements. You need to be eating a broad range of fruits and vegetables, of all colours, to make sure you get a variety of vitamins and minerals.
You also need to be looking for organic foods (yes, this really does make a huge difference!) with the most vibrant colours as its these vibrant colours that contain all the disease and illness fighting nutrients.
It is not just about food intake though.
Your whole lifestyle needs to be working towards total body health.
- You need to get fresh air.
- Stay active.
- Have low stress levels.
- Get adequate sleep.
- Do things on a daily basis that make you happy.
I know that this sounds like hard work. I know drinking a Lemsip is a quicker solution.
But why go through that 4-5 days of feeling like shit in the first place. Take the slightly harder option and prevent the cold from ever occuring.
You will not only be preventing the cold but also reducing your risk of cancer, heart disease, cardio respiritory failure and keeping your blood sugar levels balanced helping to prevent diabetes.
THAT is the cure for the common cold
